Gaslighting Examples

Examples help when the problem is hard to name from inside it.

Gaslighting often works by making normal memory feel unreliable. These examples are not a diagnosis. They are pattern language.

Pattern Language

Look for repetition, not just one bad sentence.

  • A promise disappears after you acted on it.
  • A hurtful comment becomes "just a joke" after you respond.
  • You are blamed for the reaction, while the original behavior gets skipped.
  • You start feeling less certain every time you try to explain yourself.
