Magic Sunset tells you whether tonight's sunset may be worth going out for, then helps you plan where the Sun or Moon will rise or set before you go. It uses Apple Weather at the observer and farther toward the viewing horizon, with NOAA/NWS verification in the United States when available. A plain 0–10 viewing score and separate Weather Agreement explain the forecast without promising the sky, while sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset receive a precise local time and true direction.

Before going out, choose sunrise, sunset, moonrise, or moonset. Magic Sunset shows when it will happen and which direction to face, so the user can choose a place with a clear view and be ready before it begins. At the viewing spot, Live View overlays only the selected Sun or Moon path on the camera so the user can check trees, roofs, and hills at the real horizon.

Upcoming explains locally relevant Moon phases, eclipses, perigee, apogee, equinoxes, and solstices with event-matched painterly artwork, local visibility, important times, direction, altitude, and planning guidance. Plan keeps complete gatherings on the device, protects the calculated celestial time, and exports painterly invitations and calendar files. Invitation images never contain exact coordinates. Optional reminders send only opaque subscription data, event kind, fire time, and a random local reference to the private reminder service.

Sun and Moon positions are calculated locally with Astronomy Engine 2.1.19, published as validated against NASA/JPL Horizons. Supported magnetic device headings are corrected to true north with WMM2025. Astronomical position is highly precise, but atmospheric refraction, terrain, buildings, sensor quality, and weather affect the practical horizon experience.
