Coercive Control

Control can be abuse even when it is dressed up as concern.

Coercive control is a pattern that limits your freedom. It can involve rules, monitoring, isolation, threats, money pressure, device checks, or punishment for normal independence.

Signs

Coercive control makes your world smaller over time.

  • Your phone, accounts, location, or messages are monitored.
  • Money, transportation, documents, or childcare are used as leverage.
  • You are pressured to cut off friends, family, work, or outside support.
  • Normal choices become punishable.

Map what got smaller

Before:What could you do freely before?

Now:What requires permission, secrecy, or risk?

Pressure:What happens if you say no?

If writing this down could be discovered and put you at risk, use a safer device or trusted support first.
